A Pedagogical Note on Terminal Voltage Changes in Coupled Battery Systems

We wish to clarify that this article is presented as a pedagogical and conceptual note from a young student rather than as a novel physical framework. The proposed “Reciprocal Voltage-Resistance Proportionality Framework” should be understood as a reframing of standard results from DC circuit theory, especially Ohm’s law, internal resistance, terminal voltage, and Kirchhoff’s laws.

The central relation discussed in the article — that the voltage shift across the receiving battery and the voltage shift across the supplying battery can be related through the ratio of their internal resistances — is well-known. In that sense, the work does not replace existing circuit theory, but reorganizes a familiar calculation into a proportional form that is pedagogically interesting.

The editors note that some parts of the manuscript use ambitious terminology and should be read within the pedagogical spirit of the work. The Journal of Young Physicists values honest, thoughtful, clearly motivated attempts by young students to engage with physics beyond routine textbook exercises. This article reflects the curiosity, effort, and independent reasoning of a young author exploring how familiar circuit laws can be reorganized into a different form. It is published in that spirit, with the understanding that its main contribution is pedagogical reframing and student-led exploration; some statements and extensions in the PDF should therefore be interpreted cautiously and within the limits of the idealized model considered.
